Are You Tolerant Enough?

Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too. ~ Voltaire ~ [Source]

In this world whereby everyone is mixing around, how much tolerance do you have? Do parents teach their kids about being tolerant? Why is it that some don’t mind while others do? UNESCO has been trying to promote tolerance. Education, laws and access to information are some of the ways to fight intolerance.

Most commonly discussed is the issue of religion and culture. Both of these are sensitive and usually ends up in flame wars in forums and real wars in some countries. To promote tolerance, a museum has been built. Activities such as school tours, youth programmes and distance learning are incorporated.

Tolerance can come in different forms, from food to religions. When someone is of another religion, do you accept the choice the person has made? When someone mentions that you being a vegetarian is troublesome and suggests that you change your food choices to only certain days or even give up being a vegetarian, do you tolerate it?

How tolerant are you?

It takes time to build up something. Take your time to discover yourself.
