There are ways to avoid someone on purpose; by knowing who is attending the party you have been invited to, attempting to go in another direction upon seeing the person’s intended direction, appearing offline on MSN when that person logs on and not attend any event that requires you to meet the person you are desperately trying to avoid.
Sometimes, you avoid someone because you are interested in them but unsure of how to start a conversation with them. There are times when you are just trying to figure out why you are avoiding the person; annoying conversations, mean or backstabbing you.
Sometimes, you avoid someone because they start to stalk you by calling you everyday, appear near your living area just when you are going out to work or returning home. You are chilled by their intentions to get near you and you wished to avoid them at all costs.
