The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want. ~ Ben Stein ~ [Source]

When we don’t get what we want in life, we have two choices. One, sit there and brawl about how life is bad and lousy. Two, do something about it. Friends are often the ones who influence our actions and thinking. We can have a change of friends who will motivate us to do something.

Friends are always there. There are friends who love to dish out advices and anecdotes. There are also friends who are just there, neither supporting nor encouraging. Not all advices are good as they could be just for your reference. Friends may advise you against walking up to the manager’s office and demand a pay raise.

For example, there is this manager post that you have been eying on and feel that you are up for it. However, the appraisal wasn’t good enough for you to get that position. You decide to talk to your boss about it. Prepare yourself. You want to be able to convince your boss that you can do it. Know what you want.

Life is short, make a list of what you want to do before you kick the bucket. No one wants to lie on the dying bed only realise that they have missed out something. Try to do something simple everyday; work productively and creatively for example.

Read books about fearless living. Build your persistent levels and your life will be looking up much brighter than before. Pursue that foreign language that you have been wanting to. Build up habits for success.

Have you done something to get what you want? How did you overcome the obstacles?
