Have Your Dreams Been Buried?

I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. ~ Henry David Thoreau ~ [Source]
Everyone has dreams. Not the ones that we wake up in the morning and forget. But the dreams that are constantly in our minds. Over the years, we simply let the dreams die because our loved ones feels that we are taking such huge risks for nothing. Even if the dream is dear to us, it may not be dear to them.
People put down our dreams because they can’t relate to us. Everyone of us is individual in our own ways and we have unique personalities. While some of our characteristics may be similar, it’s our dreams that is part of our DNA makeup like what our fingerprints are for.
Having worked for a number of years, the dreams start to shrink because of the number of family members growing or something happens in life. However, we feel unsatisfied or unfulfilled because our desire in the dreams keep popping up now and then. That’s when we start to think if our dreams need to be buried and we leave the world with regrets or with satisfaction.
When there are too many obstacles in front of us and we can’t seem to find a way to overcome them because we feel alone in this battle, we start to bury the dreams and let the dream stealers surrounding to make us conform to mediocrity.
Yet, we feel indignant. We don’t want to be average. We want to feel that we have accomplished something in life. Perhaps to be the talk of the town for the years to come and feel that you have been acknowledged for bringing about something; perhaps helped people from difficult situations. Or leaving a legacy behind for the next 100 years.
There are four different types of people and they are the ones who will impact your life. Who would you choose? Would you interact more with the one who help you progress or the one who lets you stay mediocre?
