Knowing Yourself Better

January 29, 2009 | 1 Comment

You have to start knowing yourself so well that you begin to know other people. A piece of us is in every person we can ever meet. ~ John D. MacDonald ~ [Source]

Not everyone know themselves very well, needless to say others. One can be a total klutz and hurt other’s feelings and not be aware of it until someone whom they thought they were close to shun them at every chance. One can also be in a world of their own and forget about others except themselves. Such self-centredness turns off people and they think the world is against them.

Sometimes, all it takes is just a few words from the affected ones to tell one straight in the face. The truth hurts but if one doesn’t want to listen, it’s not anyone’s loss. It takes courage to take the first step to rectify the situation at times. Apologies may have been offered and one may not get the forgiveness as expected. The hurt is still raw and putting yourself into other’s shoes may just keep yourself in check.

Self awareness is the first step to learn about yourself better. This is an important step to knowing about your strengths, life’s goals or purpose, how you relate to others, your achievements, and many other things about yourself.

Have you done anything to be more self aware?
