Honest criticism is hard to take, particularly from a relative, a friend, an acquaintance or a stranger. ~ Franklin P. Jones ~ [Source]

When one has done something, comments and criticisms come fast and furious. Depending the person’s mood during the comments, it can be harsh when the person had a bad day and just found the action or post irritating.

Learn

At other times, someone will tell you something on how to improve it when you thought it was the right way to do it. Constructive criticism consists of what was wrong and how to make it better the next time round. It isn’t easy to accept criticisms and one is always on the path of learning to accept constructive ones.

Listen

At work, your boss tells you that you have made a client angry by rejecting the changes outright. He starts to let you know that this client is an important client and even if the client is making changes that can’t be done, the discussion could have gone another way. You start to lash out at your boss. However, it gets you nowhere. You are the only one who can make the changes to yourself. Start by holding your tongue and listen.

Accept

You can’t just change habits overnight. You need time for it. No one is perfect and don’t berate yourself for making mistakes. Accept the criticisms. Life is short. Wasting it on getting angry gets one nowhere.

What steps have you taken to accept constructive criticisms graciously?
