Inflation is when you pay fifteen dollars for the ten-dollar haircut you used to get for five dollars when you had hair. ~ Sam Ewing ~ [Source]

A haircut these days in a salon can cost from $35 to a few hundreds depending on who your hair stylist is. Singaporeans will be away of QB House which has made its way to the heartlands for its famous $10 for 10 minutes haircuts.

Personally, a haircut there is good for a trim as they don’t style your hair. Layered hair has gone through bad times with them as they are pressed for the 10 minutes cut. The hair looks worse for wear if you have done your hairstyle at a salon that takes its time to ensure you look great upon stepping out of it.

However, with the recession that comes in waves, one had to be prudent with money. Start a garage sale by rummaging your closets to sell those clothes, ornaments, and any other odds and ends that you will never use again. Who knows, those might become someone else’s treasures instead?

Some of the ways to save your money can include the following.

Read magazines at the library or online. Check out Magatopia, Ask Men, National Geographic and many others.

Stop paying interest in credit cards. Pay them on time or use cash or debit cards if you can’t control your urges. Seeing money being immediately deducted from your bank account will make you sit up and recalculate your spending sprees.

Cancel your health club memberships. Have you used the services frequently? Why waste your money when you are not using them weekly?

Pay your life insurance annually. Did your insurance agent calculate the monthly and annual fees for you? If you can’t afford another insurance plan, buy only those that you need. Check out which are the ones that you don’t need to pay and yet let you keep the interest and protect you.

Teach your children about money. You don’t want them to grow up not knowing the value of money.

What money management tips do you have to share?
