It is interesting to note that these days, multiple careers for one person is starting to be popular. It could be due to the fact that the economy is ever-changing and in order to be able to support oneself and family, one may be required to have another career that is able to supplement when needed.

An interview with Marci Alboher reveals that ’slash’ or ‘composite’ careers isn’t new. She cited Leonardo Da Vinci and Benjamin Franklin as examples. It is to be noted that not everyone is able to take up this challenge as there are some who are unable to multi-task.

Slashing your career is like planting many seeds with some dying and others thriving. It is a way to support yourself and adding value at the same time. It could provide a challenge for your otherwise routine career path. It could also be a way to stop obsessing with finding the perfect job.

While career changes such as changing companies with the same job scope is usually a step for higher pay, the value is in the experience in a particular field. Some people may find it boring after a few jumps as it is always the same. There are some who loved to interact with people while others love to talk about health products.

By slashing your career, it can provide a way to make life more interesting and living it to the fullest. Multitasking also means balancing. Therefore, one must also balance the multiple careers so as not to be overloaded and burnout. That would defeat the purpose.
