The Power of Belief

You have to believe in yourself. ~ Sun Tzu ~ [Source]

The mind is a power tool that we are born with. One of the strong attributes that we have been born with is belief. Belief is either empowering or limiting. There isn’t any right or wrong. A simple example: You buy a meal from a stall after walking around for some time. When you place the meal in front of you finally, you tell yourself, “It doesn’t look good to eat.” Then, you start eating and it doesn’t taste good. Just like what you have said.

It is known as the placebo effect. What you think or expect to happen, happens. When the negative aspects happen, we feel awful. Reading the horoscope of the day can also have that kind of effect. If you have read the following horoscope for Aquarius in the morning:

What if you had read it in the evening after your day was over? Would it have been different?

Doubt has the same process too. It begins as a thought and slowly turns into fear. A strong belief that you can’t do something despite someone telling you that they have faith in you. You perceived something so negatively that you reject their faith.

The power of belief will either work positively or negatively.

It’s a funny thing about beliefs. Most of us are willing to scrutinize all aspects of ourselves — but we usually get super defensive if someone (even our self) questions our beliefs.

Why?

Because we assume our beliefs are “beyond question.” So they remain unquestioned, and usually just run right over any goal that goes against them.
